Butterscotch Appledore Cake

Unlike most apple recipes, this one doesn’t call for spices such as cinnamon. Your secret shortcut is a box of pudding mix. Where is Appledore? See below for the answer.

4 cups sliced fresh apples OR
2 cans pie-sliced apples (not apple pie filling), undrained
1 tablespoon flour
½ cup brown sugar
2/3 cup half and half

2/3 cup flour
½ cup rolled oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 package dry butterscotch flavor cook-and-serve pudding mix (not instant)
1 stick butter, melted

Peel, core and slice fresh apples. Arrange apples in a 9 X 13-inch baking pan. Whisk together brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and half and half. Pour over apples. Mix 2/3 cup flour, oats, brown sugar and pudding mix. Sprinkle over apples and drizzle evenly with melted butter. Bake at 350 degrees 35 to 45 minutes or until  apples are tender and topping is toasty.
