Home Style Chicken to Crow About
Chicken in Cream Gravy
Scrub baking potatoes, wrap them in foil and throw them on the fire to serve with this creamy, herb-enhanced chicken.
1 teaspoon each dried basil, garlic powder, white pepper
4 to 6 portions of chicken
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 packet of onion-mushroom soup mix
½ cup dry white wine
1 cup water
½ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons flour
Salt if needed
Brown chicken in hot oil and sprinkle with seasonings and soup mix. Add wine and water. Bring to a boil, stir, cover and reduce heat. Cook 20 to 30 minutes or until chicken tests done. Remove chicken or pile it on one side of the skillet so you can stir the gravy.
Whisk flour into the cream and stir into pan juices over high-medium heat until it’s bubbly. If gravy is too thick, thin with a little water or white wine. Adjust seasonings and serve.
